2015-09-04: enercast extends wind and solar power forecasts to 40 days ahead
In September 2015, enercast announced an extension of wind and solar power forecasts to a horizon of up to 40 days using a weather model from ECMWF. The announcement described forecasts for the coming two, three and four weeks.
The stated application was longer-term planning of feed-in volumes and energy supply contracts. This entry records the 2015 announcement; it does not establish the forecast horizons, availability or commercial terms of products offered today.
2018-07-30: Introducing enercast YAS – Yield Assessment for Power Generation Sites
In July 2018, enercast introduced YAS for assessing wind and solar sites. The announcement described comparing simulated generation with EPEX SPOT day-ahead hourly contracts and monthly reference prices to examine revenue spread in hourly resolution.
The historical workflow used location, installed capacity and technical parameters such as turbine model or PV orientation and tilt. The launch announcement covered Germany and France and described backward projections from 2015 using historical weather data. Present-day regions and evaluation terms require separate confirmation.
2019-02-01: Introducing enercast WDA Weather data access: enercast Release 2019.02
Release 2019.02 introduced WDA Weather Data Access in February 2019. The announcement described a uniform way to access weather forecasts and meteorological parameters from global, regional and local numerical weather prediction models through MeteoStore X.
The release also described severe-weather risk visualisation, precipitation radar and radar forecasts for the next two hours. Other announced platform additions included maintenance scheduling, meter-data visualisation and integration of PFA area forecasts. These are dated release notes, not a current availability specification.
2020-02-06: enercast announces enercast release 2020.02
In February 2020, enercast announced release 2020.02 for wind and solar forecasting and its industrial AI integration platform. The release announcement described automated forecast setup and the ensemble engine e³, with forecast horizons, update times and quality indicators configurable for a business case.
The release included a redesigned online portal intended to make asset management and forecast analysis easier. The announcement said that the extended interface would be rolled out gradually to customers in the following weeks.
2021-05-20: Interactive forecast quality evaluation in the enercast portal
In May 2021, enercast described portal widgets for evaluating forecast quality. The quality widget displayed measures including root mean square error, mean absolute error and bias, while charts showed the error curve and daily means for closer investigation.
The described evaluation used meter data stored in IPL, including SCADA measurements or final billing data where available. Delivery times and evaluation windows were taken from forecast configuration so that comparisons considered the relevant portion of overlapping forecast deliveries.
2021-09-23: India special: New penalty widget provides quick financial insights
In September 2021, enercast introduced a portal penalty widget for renewable-energy producers in India. The historical announcement described combining delivered forecasts and SCADA generation measurements to calculate expected monetary impacts of deviations.
The widget was designed to let users configure state-specific regulations and assign them to assets or clusters in multi-state portfolios. The underlying regulations and penalty thresholds in the 2021 announcement should not be treated as current legal guidance.
2022-02-23: enercast 2022.02: Interactive backcasting enables faster portfolio decisions
Release 2022.02 introduced interactive backcasting in the enercast Portal as part of YAS. The announcement described creating trained backcasts from the workbench to reproduce historical forecast computation and examine potential portfolio assets.
The release also described a detailed forecast-model view for comparing physical or AI-based backcasts with operational forecasts. The announcement mentioned portal improvements and machine-to-machine APIs, and noted that some features were optional and charged separately. It does not define today’s feature packages or pricing.
2024-02-13: Release enercast 2024.02
In February 2024, enercast presented release 2024.02 against two application areas: industrial-scale generation and trading, and smaller-scale optimisation involving EV charging, heat pumps and storage.
The announcement described portal productivity tools for combining forecasts, creating schedules and assessing penalties or balancing costs. For decentralised applications, it described a Smart Energy API providing ad-hoc forecasts at scale for smart devices and consumer-facing applications. Current API access and specifications require confirmation through the product team.
