Accuracy

Read forecast accuracy in context

Understand which data, horizons and metric definitions make a forecast comparison meaningful.

Forecast accuracy is meaningful only beside its measurement context: technology, region, forecast horizon, observed period, actual data and baseline. A number without those details is difficult to compare or apply to an operating decision.

MAE summarizes absolute forecast errors. RMSE gives greater influence to larger errors. nRMSE scales RMSE against a stated denominator, so a comparison must identify the normalization basis and data selection.

Public enercast accuracy benchmarks and methodology are not presented here. Ask which results, definitions and data can be shared for a specific forecast task.
